Subject: SEO Search Engine Optimization Tools & Algos Suggestion
Crawling, Indexing,  Ranking issues:

As of the last few Updates, Google is placing too much emphasis on
TrustRank and Popularity of Links in the Organic SERPs.

The overall SERPs have become very Reference(informational Sites) -
biased.
The larger more established sites are getting an enormous  boost in
Algos at the cost of the newbies or those that are NOT well connected.

This pull also affects that inner pages of these Top  sites - even if
their relevancy and content is mediocre - futher expanding the
inherent imbalance in the Organic eco-system.

At the lowest rung of the ladder is the new shopping sites - which are
experiencing the biggest difficulty in history of getting any SERPs
action.

Also the anti-seo link strategies that Google employs make it THAT
MUCH MORE difficult for the small biz or newbie to get any action -
though their products or services could be equal to those that are
being offered by the more established sites.

While their is an understandable need to curtail SPAM - it is having
the effect of false positives and an overall degrading and
imbalancing or the Natual Listing against the less powerful domain
names.

BackLinks are NOT a democratic vote for a sites relevancy - it is a
VOTE - but not democratic.  Pure democracy would level the playing
field so the EVERYONE has an equal chance of being noticed - Then, and
only then, would the voting be the most relevant and perspective.

The early rise of Social Networking showed just how much valuable
REFERENCE content was out there by the small guys that were not being
noticed.

But a SHOPPING site has no possibility of even getting  any of that
traffic.

The playing field must be leveled?

Google webmaster tools    & Suggestions and feature requests  Issues:

One possibility worth considering is to allow a miniature
version of the Google toolbar just for those who want PageRank info

This add-on would just simply display the PR NUMBER of the page that
one brings up in the browser. it could be placed in the corner of the
Standard Buttons or Address Bar or Status Bar or on the Taskbar

This would be especially helpful for those using tiny laptops who want
as much screen real estate as possible

Please add the following to the Google Webmaster BackLinks Checking
Tool

☻ PageRank Info for all links…
☻ Filtered results by PageRank and Age of BackLinks
☻ Anchor Text Keywords Analysis

________________________________________________

A Webmaster Tool that would ARCHIVE the top 20 SERPs for a group of
popular keywords - similar in theory to this service --> http://www.rankpulse.com/

_______________________________________________

Please develop and launch  a New Labs Project that would allow for
CONCEPT SEARCHING of the Google SERPs

______________________________________________

Please consider NUMERIZING the Search Results - this would help
further distinguish the Organics for the Sponsor Links on Top
(especially since the Local Results NOW appearing above the Organic
SERPs have bullets (a, b, c,)

I just wanted to say that I enjoyed reading your thoughts, and good on
you for taking the time to write them down.

I know what you mean about shopping sites (usually fairly static and
low on 'unique informational content') - I have informational sites as
well as shopping sites, so I can understand both perspectives.

All I can say is thank Godness the days of just about any search
returning porn sites in the top ten are over.. search is a fluid
realm, and I'm guessing we'll either adapt to the algorithm changes or
(preferably) the algorithm will adapt to our needs.

You present a bit of a crystal ball view of where things might be
headed - but really, I think that's where Google is going with
projects like 'Google Scholar' - they're beginning to realise that
with search, one size doesn't necessarily fit all.

Cheers,

Doc

True that, although the forum still allows all caps. :-()

This is so true.  In my darker moments I have been predicting Google's
demise due to their slavish devotion to the Status Quo.  They are
still strong for reference, though, so my dreams of a fairer SE
winning more marbles may take a while to come about.

I am one of about two dozen people in the world who offer my product,
and my site and products are more interesting than much of the
competition's, yet I appear nowhere in SERPS.  As a result, my
business from the Web is only about a fifth of what I hoped for, and I
am scrambling.

A few things I did in ignorance that I think screwed my TrustRank:

· Have SBC Yahoo as an ISP rather than a static site.
· Developed the site offline rather than having it "grow" online.
· Solicited reciprocal links with various sites I admired.
· Used a free SEO service offered by SBC Yahoo.
· Bought Adwords.

My suspicion is that Google relied heavily on DMOZ, and with DMOZ
behind in editing my category there is no human to vouch that despite
my site appearing under 'suspicious' circumstance, it is in fact
legitimate.

Miraculously, a DMOZ editor visited my site today and placed it in the
directory.  Just in case that visit was a result of this thread: thank
you!  My personal name is on the entry, which gave me a bit of a
shoch, but I proposed an update which ought to take care of that.

I'm curious to see how this affects SERPs, and will report back with
results.
