I recently upgraded my website software and redesigned my website. I
purchased Traffic Blazer from GoDaddy and uploaded all the new
content, plus submitted the site to various search engines, including
Google. Now when I try to search for my website through Google, I
have to put in more information, not just the business name. Now I
have to put in the city and state in order for the website to show
up. Then when it does show up the heading is our phone number and
address, not the business name. When I search on Yahoo it comes up
correctly with the business name. I spoke with a representative from
GoDaddy and they recommended that I contact Google to find out how
this is happening since it's coming up correctly on other sites.
Since Google does not offer phone support I really don't know how I'm
supposed to get this fixed. I don't want to submit the site again
because I was told that Google may look at it as Spam and remove the
site. Please help - where do I go from here? The website in question
is www.lightning-motorsports.com.
Whoever made this website really shouldn't de making websites. You
should just go back to your old one if it was bringing in traffic.
This one will do nothing for you.
When Google goes to your site, all it can read from your site is:
"Home"
Basically, Google can't make head nor tail what your site is about.
The text on your site is just images - It's not text that you can copy
and highlight. Search engines can't read this.
Thanks for your honesty, but I wasn't looking for criticisim, just
some helpful advice. I'm the one who designed this website as well as
the first one, all I did was purchase better software and basically
copied the first one. Instead of going back to the first one wouln't
it be better if I just add text to my site? As you can tell, I'm new
to web design and I just want to make our site better.
Thanks

Start by not having any text in mages. Images are just decoration. If
they are to have any meaning they should also have alt and title text.
Text is what robots can index, and visually impaired people can get
their screen readers to interpret for them.
The criticism had to come because this is the only way to explain why
your site (especially your homepage) has absolutely no content that
can be indexed, so don't be surprized that it's not been indexed at
all (at least not for the version you have now).
Whatever software you have used is no good, or you haven't figured out
how to use it properly yet.

One minor issue is to add page titles not things like page 4 and put
in meaningfull page titles like products.htm. Do not try and control
the look of the text, but put in new unique text that reflects what is
unique about the company and its services.

Of course it's preferable for the page file name to be more meaningful
than page1.html, etc.
It's of paramount importance for page titles (what is defined in the
<title> ..</title> tag in the head section) to be meaningful and
representative of the page contents, and unique for each page of the
site. Same goes for the description meta tag, if used.

As several users have pointed out, Google may have difficulty
understanding your site because much of your text is only displayed in
images, which Googlebot may not be able to "see." Googlebot is best at
reading actual text, so it's better to only use images for non-text
elements such as photographs. However, if you do want to use images
for your text, you can help Googlebot and other visitors who may not
be able to view images by adding alt text for each image. You can see
an example of alt text in this Help Center article:
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=72746
You can add alt text yourself by editing the HTML code of your page,
or if you are not comfortable doing that, you may be able to add it
using the program you used to create the site. Feel free to let us
know which tools you used to create the pages, and perhaps someone who
is familiar with the software could help you out to make your site
more accessible to Google.
