So, I have some good news and also a favor to ask. I'm posting this on a new thread because, well, it's important, first of all. Also, there have been so many different threads reporting problems that I think may be related to this crazy bug that I'd have to post this all over the place. I hope that this post will catch everyone.
Ok, now what am I talking about? Well, if you've been having problems with your homepage settings not sticking once you reload, gadgets you've deleted coming back, not being able to add new gadgets, being stuck on one tab, or other similar "my homepage is stuck like this" weirdness, then we may have a solution. Give this a try:
3. Click on the "Force Gadget Undelete" button we just added -- it's not as scary as it sounds. ;)
4. Click your heels together and repeat "There's no place like my homepage" three times.... No wait, just kidding, that's to solve a different problem altogether. But hey, couldn't hurt. :) Ok, serious now -- return to your homepage to see if things are working again. Just a warning -- the "Force Gadget Undelete" button may bring back a gadget you recently removed, but if you delete the gadget again, it should be gone for good this time (I hope, I hope, I hope).
5. ***Please*** let me know if this worked for you. As I've mentioned a few times in this group, this bug is so nasty that we've had trouble figuring out where it lives and everything that it affects. Your feedback will help us figure out if we're headed in the right direction and we can get to work on making sure this doesn't happen again.
I really hope this helps you all out and look forward to hearing good news! :)

vive tried it trying to fix the fact my tabs get stuck sometimes and the fact that having the google bookmarks together with the gcal gadget makes the bookmatks not to display, now all of my gadgets seems to stuck while loading and nothing happens, how can i undo it.... help !!!
Hi. Would your bug-fix sort out the problem I have of MSN forcing itself as my homepage on Internet Explorer 7? It will not allow me (as administrator) to use Google as my homepage. Even when I follow ALL the various usual steps for replacing the homepage (tools, control panel, the arow to the right of the homepage icon), MSN immediately re-asserts itself. I've even replaced Internet Explorer 7 with Google's own version but the problem persisits. Help!!
Is your bug-fix safe to use for this? I don't want it to cause even more problems.....
No luck - I tried the bug-fix and MSN still reigns supreme on my homepage. Nothing seems to shift it, so poor old Google has to take second place. Good luck finding a solution for this - I can't wait! Ken M
I had these problems on my home page and was unable to delete gadgets by clicking the 'X' or putting them into another tab and deleting the tab. It so happens that my husband and I have separate accounts on our computer. When I went to his account and went to my gmail home page, I was unable to delete my gadgets by clicking the 'x', but WAS ABLE to put them into a tab and delete the tab. I was also able to move things around on my homepage and they stayed where I wanted them.
Not sure if this helps at all...but maybe other people can create another account on their computer and make it work that way...or from work or wherever...
I hope these details will help get to the bug: It started when I tried to add a lot of gadgets (I think it was 100+ on the same tab - I thought it was ok). Since then, my homepage started to load very slow, I even get error messages because some gadgets/feeds where not configured properly. I somehow managed to delete All the gadgets/feeds, thinking I could add the ones that I need later on. When I tried to add a gadget, it wouldn't add. Tried restarting the computer, clearing the cache and all cookies, etc, no go. I also tried it in IE (I'm using Firefox 2), same thing. Found your fix, clicked on Reset All, and viola, it worked! Thanks again!!!
I'm not sure this is related but my Google at home looks totally different as of yesterday. Looks the same here at work. The one at home has a G with halo around it. The toolbars are completely different. How can I get it back to the regular Google page. (I do have a customized page that I created a couple months ago. It's customized both at home and work)
Was able to add things today - first time in over three weeks. Having problems dragging and dropping items from one tab to the other. All of my additions landed on the same tab and moving them where they need to go isn't working very well. By that, I mean I was able to move one item but have not been able to move any others since then. I can move them around a single tab but I can't get them to an alternate tab. They look like they're going and then land back on the original tab - no error msg.
Good work on your part!! My problem is probably a user problem and not a code problem.
Thank you for the fix and the hard work! RYMM
PS: Any word on being able to have more than six tabs? Just curious...

I used the "RESET" to wipe my page and start again. I immediately ran into the problem you mentioned above and applied the fix. It worked for me! Now, today, I'm having problems with "Add Stuff". I add things and it reloads the page only to show me that it isn't there. Is there a fix for this?

I am going to try the fix although I don't have any problem deleting and adding mods. I have 3 tabs with news, games, & other - I use IE6 and Opera 9.01. They work fine except now and then I cannot switch from one tab to another, this occurs more often with Opera. I get frustrated with it when it happens, but can usually switch either from one browser to the other or close and reopen the browser and it will usually work correctly. I am on the verge of becoming bald due to the main problem I have. This occurs in both IE6 and Opera 9.01 at intervals of between 5 & 10 minutes for each browser, my homepage will suddenly reload and reset everything on the page. (ie. While playing a game, the page goes blank & then starts filling back up and all I was doing is gone, or, the Monteray Bay web cam it plays music continually, whether collapsed or open. When I don't want to hear it I mute it, but every 5-10 minutes when the page reloads I have to go back and mute it again.) It is enough to make a grown man cry, not that I am a man. Anyway, I usually keep my mods. in the collapsed state unless I am playing a game or two. Most of the games on it are puzzle type, sudoku, crossword, mini jong, so you can see how frustrating it can be, especially when you have almost got the thing done and boom it is gone and a new different one is back. One other note, I had a crossword puzzle on it that was fine then after one of the reloads it wouldn't fit in it's space anymore. No matter what I tried I could only see part of the across questions and none of the down, not conducive to completing a puzzle. If anyone knows what is going on with this & how to fix it, I would appreciate it very much, as would my hair, what's left of it. I will try the forced gadget undelete and let you know if it does anything to alleviate the dreaded phantom reloader. Thanks, phaz

Tried the forced gadget undelete didn't help my problem. The reload intervale seem to be getting closer together. I just had 3 in less than 5 min. I really hope someone knows what the deal is. Thanks, Phaz
More homepage weirdness. Bookmarks have been unavail most of the afternoon/evening. I delete a module...or move it....then close the page..then if I open it back up....its back and in the old spot.
Hi, I joined this group because all of the sudden today my personalized google home page added about 15 modules out of no where, Luckily I clicked the link and it worked... the second time at least, I had to reset all first then I forced the gadget undelete, my home page seems fine now...
yeah my personal home page keeps adding random gadgets and deleteing mine out with digg, engadget, deadspin, in with moon phase, tetris, other random stuff
Hi Google Guide, I can't add stuff, and can't modify webcam modules. Tried the "force gadget undelete" to no avail... is there anything else to try besides resetting everything?

I tried the fix and the reset all recommended by someone else. I ended up back to a non-persolanized homepage. If I add a gadget I still cannot delete it and have it stay deleted. I am unable to drag gadgets from the first tab to another, either. Finally I gave up hope - I used reset all to scrub it clean and just added the one gadget + weather from my Zip code and left it that way. The "fix" did not fix it for me. I am using a MacBook Pro OSX 10.4.8 and Safari. I would love to get back to being able to play with the content of my homepage :-(

Well, Google Guide, this bug is so nasty that it's still there - I'm stuck with a "personalized" Google at the 5th tab (pressing tabs 1 thru 4 does zip). While I "can", in theory, "Add stuff", nothing really gets added - i.e. going "Back to home page" gets me none of what I wanted to Add - the only real change is that no matter how I've renamed the 5th tab, it's back to "Name this tab" and clicking other tabs does nothing at all (clicking "Delete" does squat except to bring up an IE warning). Anyway, all your your resets "usually work" - and I stress both "usually" and "work" - but it occasionally does nothing, and otherwise always gives me stuff I don't want, like an oversized analog clock, a "how to" section, etc, and even that's only temporary...
After I Log Off or power down and come back on, and usually just when I invoke a new Google window, I get the same stuck "personalized Google" (i.e. at the 5th tab, with "Look for new stuff to add" and no tabs working). Please help. Cheers, Brett.
