How to sort search result by Last modified date of document

hi,

I have some documents which I periodically change. What should I do to bring the result which shows the Last modified document on the top of the search result.

What should I put in default query attribute.

In test center the result comes by Relevancy and there is option Sort by date. I want the result should come by default  sort by date only.

Please suggest how to do that.

I have not provided the default URL. Basically, when i search in test center of GSA it gives me result by relevancy and then I click Sort By Date ( Sort By Date / Sort By Relevancy ) from right side of search result,then

it shows result as per last modified date. But I want by default it should show result Sort by Date.

What should I do to work like that?

Like Jeremy said: change the sort parameter in the default URL - the
URL that people will go to in order to run the search. Don't worry
about how things work in the test center, worry about how they work
for your actual users. The behavior of the search is controlled by the
URL parameters sent to the appliance.
