I would like to learn more about the possibility to use early binding
which is supposed to be supported in the 6.0 version. Does anyone know
where I can get more information about this? There isn't anything
written in the documentation but it is announced on the presentation
page of the 6.0 version. Or should I look in the API guides?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Svetoslav,

can you give me a hint what early binding should be or what it is used
for?

In late binding...at serve time the appliance queries credentials/
validates, and results are displayed based on those credentials.

In early binding.. the binding takes place up front and by the user
group.

This is off the top of my head anyway - someone can probably add more
to that.

timhall,

Have you learned any more about this? This sounds like something
my organization may be able to use.

Thanks,
Andy

Hi,

We're just getting under the covers on 6.0, so I believe I've
discovered what you're talking about. If I'm right, go through your
Admin Console to the Help links in Administration > LDAP Setup and
then Serving >Policy ACLs. If this is what you're talking about, you
can use an LDAP server to provide credentials of a user, including
group memberships. Then, you can specify Policy ACLs that govern
which LDAP groups access which pieces of content. In this way, the
back-end authorization checks that are performed for each document,
when using Forms Authentication, are eliminated, at least within an
LDAP secured LAN/WAN.

Hope that helps.
