Hi guys,

The environment is as follows:
  1. Using Google Search Appliance.
  2. All content is secure.
  3. Content comes from Windows and Mac shares, which were crawled with SMB URLs.
  4. In search results, links to Windows shares work using the GSA SMB proxy, while links to Mac shares don't.
  5. Example Mac URL:

Any ideas on how to fix Mac links?

I was looking on other posts about a possible issue with white spaces, but it was when serving public documents only.

Thanks in advance.

Actually, I wouldn't be too surprised if that caused a problem here
too. Try a Mac path without any spaces in the directory or file name.

Hi Dave,

Tried one with no white spaces, but got the same result (not found).

I looks like a problem with Mac in general, since links to Windows shares work fine.

That's entirely possible, I've honestly never tried to index a Mac
share with an appliance. But you might be able to learn more about the
problem by testing connectivity from a Linux machine using the SAMBA
client. There's a tool in the GSA Admin Toolkit that can help with
this, also:

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your help. So we raised the issue with support and it seems to be a bug.

Do you happen to know what alternatives are available in this case? We need to be able to click on Mac search results, which are "SMB" URLs. Almost all browsers won't open "SMB".

Thanks
