Hi all,
This announcement is primarily for BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES)
administrators. We've just introduced some new installation packages
that will allow you to give your employees Google Maps for mobile more
easily than before. You'll want to deploy one of the installation
packages below, depending on your BES configuration, and your
preference for pushing applications to devices or having employees
pull applications from your company's intranet portal.
1. Most BES installations should continue using our standard ALX
package. This includes BES versions 4.1.5 MR1 and higher, or any
installations not using application whitelisting via ACP.
2. If you use a BES version prior to 4.1.5 MR1 and use access control
policies to restrict installation of applications, you can now use our
new workaround ALX package.
3. If you would like to host the files internally and have your
employees individually install Google Maps, you can now use our new
JAD/COD package.
Please visit http://mobile.google.com/enterprise to find a repository
of these installation packages and for more information. These
packages include the latest release of Google Maps for mobile, version
2.3, which features Street View & Walking Directions.
Also, please note that these changes only affect a small subset of
Google Maps for mobile users. If you're not a BES administrator, you
can download the app at www.google.com/gmm on your mobile & desktop
browser. As always, if you have questions, please reply to this thread
and I'll try to assist.
Best,
Tom & Google Maps for mobile team
