I just wanted to point your attention to the Google Mobile Blog's
announcement that Street View and Walking directions are now available
for the latest java release for Google Maps for mobile!
One quick note: for those of you using Google Mobile Updater to update
to the new version of Google Maps for mobile, you won't be able to
download the new version just yet. To get the new release, simply
visit google.com/gmm from your mobile or desktop browser!

Same problem, 2.2.0.19 on Sprint Mogul PPC 6800 running Win Mobile 6.1
shows no new features.
Also, clicking My Location says something about my handset not being
compatible with the beta.
Said that for My Location on previous version (2.0.0.12). Actual GPS
in phone works fine on both versions.

Please note that version 2.3 is for Java clients only right now, e.g.
BlackBerry. If you have a device with Windows Mobile OS, you won't be
able to install 2.3 at this time. I'll keep you posted on when it'll
be available for other devices.
Best,
Tom

Tom,
I find it very suprising that this is not stated anywhere on the
download page. you are pushing a product that is not even available. I
did like 3 installs thinking i was not getting the correct file and
even deleted all my saved data to try and troubleshoot. There should
be a note next to the download links that state what version you are
downloading so that you dont drive the tech savy insane! sicne there
is no way to see what version you are downloading until it is
installed, there is now way to know. Even ammending the version number
to the name of the cab would be a great help...

Yes, there should be an indication on the download page showing which
version you are downloading.
I've also downloaded the same version multiple times because there's
no way to know without running it.
By the way, is anything going to be done about the memory corruption
bug I posted on the bugs thread (or about any of those bugs)? Mozilla
has bugzilla and you can actually see what's being worked on. Google
has no visibility and no way to easily find bugs.

I just tried if on my SE W880i and it works like a charm! Absolutely
fantastic! :) Thanks a lot for the most useful application on my
mobile. Though... I guess it will take some time to cover street views
over Sweden... ;)

I totally agree. It was only by searching Google that I found the
answer to why I was not getting any of the new features after deleting
and then re-installing Google Maps on my Samsung Blackjack i601. It
would be a great help if the download page gave information on what
version was being downloaded. Thanks. Still a fantastic product
though!
