It seems to be working pretty well on my AT&T Blackberry 8700c. The
MyLocation feature is kind of nifty. It found my location within a
couple of blocks, which I guess is really all you can hope for when
using cell tower triangulation.
The video says it gets more accurate, the more you use it. Could you
help me understand how that is possible?
Also, could you help me find info on KML support for Google Maps
Mobile? I'm interested in using my Blackberry as an extra tool when
geocaching.
I downloaded the new version on my Samsung m620, hoping for the my
location feature. The my location feature isn't supported on my
device, and I can no longer zoom in and out on my maps.
Is there a plan to fix this soon? My google maps that I use frequently
is no longer usable. :(

I'm really excited to tell you about the latest version of Google Maps
for mobile with a new feature called My Location (beta).
The new My Location (beta) feature displays your approximate location
on Google Maps, even if your phone doesn't support GPS. Just press [0]
and you'll see yourself on the map, represented as a blue dot. If you
have a GPS-enabled device, this blue dot corresponds to your GPS
location. If you don't, or if your GPS isn't working, you'll see the
same blue dot surrounded by a light blue circle to indicate any
uncertainty about your location.
The My Location (beta) feature is among several other advancements
we've made in this new version of Google Maps for mobile. To download,
text "MYLOCATION" to 33669, or just visit www.google.com/gmm on your
mobile phone. You can check whether My Location (beta) is available
for your device at the link below:
Are PalmOs Treos not supported? 700p's www.google.com/gmm page says
"download 2.0 beta", yet the GoogleMaps.prc file downloaded is version
1.20.9. Please guide those of us confused by contradictory post and
download page info... we'd love to have this feature!!! thanks.
GMM 2.0 with My Location (beta) features works with the following:
* BlackBerry devices
* Some recent Motorola devices
* Some recent Sony Ericsson devices
* Many Windows Mobile devices
* Nokia Series 60 3rd Edition devices
At this time, it is not available for Palm Treo devices or the Apple
iPhone.
Any idea when there will be a version of My Location that will run on
older (2nd edition) series 60 phones? I just downloaded google maps
2.0 on my phone but the my location feature is disabled.
Is there any way to hack it to work on my phone (Nokia 6682). If I had
known about this feature 6 months ago, I would not have bought this
phone.
Also, I would be interested to know whether there are any fundamental
differences with the older (2nd ed) series 60 phones that won't allow
this feature to work, or if the beta just doesn't support them for the
time being...

I have a BB 8830 running on a BES (in the Fed govt).
Can I run My Location without having the alx file loaded on the BES?
My device is GPS capable but is still blocked by Verizon.
Help.

Ahh, finally I can post (wasn't logged in, signed in, joined up, and
basically had to break down the glass to get in here. I do not see
any references to Palm Centro, but seeing references that say no to
Treos I would gather than it doesn't work on our Centro. Is that
right? Any ideas how long? Please don't flame, I realize this
product is like, still on fire it's so new.

I have installed the GMM 2.0 and I'm using Motorola V3X series. I have
trouble with my down navigation button. It doesn't give any action :(
Only the up, left and right button that are working and it's very
annoying. I like traveling and this apps will fantastically great if
just this minor problem is fixed.

I am using a VZW Motorola Q9m Smartphone running WM6. I haven't tried
it in a lot of locations yet, mainly around where I live in Solon OH.
When I press the 0 key, I get an immediate message that says 'Your
current location is temporarily unavailable'. I have confirmed that
my option for the internal 911 location service set to Location On
(instead of 911 only). I have also done a soft reset (powered the
device off and back on). This is a GREAT service and I would like to
make sure I can use it!!

Surprising that so many smartphones are not supported. Just checked
my SE M600i, and in Help menu it lists My Location and says 'your
device is not supported'
The new GMM 2.0 works _great_ on my Nokia E65, and what completely
stunned me was that it picked up my location in Canada to within 800m
(Canadians aren't often pivy to the latest and greatest tech/google
services...).
What I am disappointed about in the S60 version is that it still
doesn't have the Favourites feature. Although this client works very
smooooth, I'm considering switching back to the Java version for the
Favourites feature.
Thanks, now vendors will be able to wrangle me into their store as I
walk by! ;) ;)
