Subject: Maps not loading properly and freezes IE.
When trying to access Maps, I get a partial load/picture. The loading
bar in the system tray says the page is loading and is full, but still
showing (it should disappear when fully loaded) and the text at bottom
left says"done" as if the page has fully loaded.  I then can not do
anything, eg click and action anything, close the page, stop IE etc.
I then have to shut down IE using the Task Manager to regain control.
I have had the use of Maps in the past and once about 2 weeks ago it
appeared to be working fine.  I have tried the IE settings advised in
the help section to no avail.

You should check Windows Event Viewer for the exact error that was
generated when IE crashed, then Google-search it.

NWT,
Event viewer showed application Hang , ID 1002 only. Searching showed it may
be a registry error, so cleaned registry and error still persisted. Did
reboot still had error, then 30 mins later Google Maps started working fine.
No idea why.
Thanks for your advice.
Terry D.

Subject: Re: Maps not loading properly and freezes IE.
I get the exact same problem. As soon as google.load("map","2") is
called IE freezes.

It happens on two seperate XP systems the first with the latest
service pack and the other managed by my corporate client (should be
in a good shape!). XP with the latest service pack is running IE 7 and
the other system is running IE 6.

What is really strange is that none of these problems exist if I use
google's old API (not the ajax one). I am pretty sure I have boiled it
down to this specific call:
google.load("map","2");

It's annoying because I have understood the google map API page, I
need to use the new ajax API if I want to get the latest stable
release of google maps.

Can any one help? I can put an example on-line if it helps...

Paul
