Most of the result i get from google map are for driving route. I
would like google to include walking route whenever possible.

Hi dikice,

We've actually seen this request a lot here in the group, and I can
assure you that the Maps Guides have spread the word to the rest of
the team. Stay tuned here for updates. Also, in the future, please
feel free to post any suggestions in the "Feature Requests" subgroup!

Thanks,
Maps Guide Brian

Google Maps walking directions seem to be live for me, at least in
beta.  I posted about it at http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/017749.html

Try a search for
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=200+Madison+Ave,...

Do you see the walking directions option?

I guess the team has taken the suggestions to heart.  This feature
must have become active just recently.

Add  &dirflg=w  to the end of the directions URL if you want the
walking directions to appear.

I noticed that the Walking option does not take into effect "No
Pedestrian Crossing" areas.  There are quite a few near where I live
and the walking map took me though without an issue.  Is there going
to be any way for users to update the maps with this information?
I've noticed that often when the state "upgrades" intersections with
traffic lights they put up no pedestrian crossing signs lately.
