Subject: Update on Saved Locations feature
Hi all,

First off, I apologize for not letting everyone know about this
sooner. The good news is that your saved locations haven't
"disappeared."  There's just a new way of getting to them.

Directly to the right of the Search box you'll notice an arrow
pointing downwward. If you click on this you'll see a short list of
some of your saved locations. Clicking on "Edit saved locations" will
bring you to a familiar page, which lists all of your saved locations.

I understand that it's a bit inconvenient for those of you loyal
"Saved Locations" users, but assuming the drop-down arrow remains, any
suggestions on how we can improve this feature? I'd love to hear
everyone's feedback!

Maps Guide Brian

I have a suggestion, put the "saved locations" back the way we all
liked it. How about that?

Speak for yourself.  I like it the new way.  I dislike web pages that
are cluttered with numerous links.  The new method cleans it up.

Brian,
Thank you for making the "saved locations" explanation a sticky!

I really like the saved locations feature. It's incredibly convenient
and useful for my personal and business travel, and it's why I use
came to use google maps as opposed to other similar services. Now that
I know how to access my saved locations, I'm happy, but I wouldn't
have learned about the feature initially if that had been the original
display. It needs some sort of text identifyer.

Thank you. I hope there are no plans to do away with saved locations
all together!

This is a great change but I have to say that some kind of indicator
on the page would be nice.
I am a loyal saved locations user so I hope this is not a way to phase
it out. I would also love if there were a way to exceed 100 saved
locations. I print repeat maps constantly and have to map routes
between locations all of the time. I hope this feature lives on.

This is a great feature. However you don't want to hear all the nasty
words I yelled while finally finding this post after two weeks to
figure out where it all went. No warning, just figure it out yourself?
Typical geek instructions.

The guy who built Windows must have joined Google Maps!

HOW, How, how do you "save" a Map *WITH* a Route on it??

After you create a Route with Drive To Directions - isn't there some
way to
"save" it for future re-use?

Yes there is, unfortunatly its just not 'button click' in the
interface. The FAQ links to a post where I describe one way to do it:
http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Maps/web/getting-started-faq
(note the typo output=KML should be output=kml)

Also that method no longer works if the directions, contain multiple
destination. Can use http://www.nearby.org.uk/multi-to-kml.php to
create a KML that includes teh whole route, that can then be
reimported.

In fact I have just written a blog post which details the process,
