I am the network administrator for Pittsburgh Technical Institute and
I am desperately trying to change the address for our school when it
is searched in Google. The address of 635 Smithfield Street is no
longer valid and no longer forwards from the post office. From what I
read the post card will come to me at my address of 1111 Mckee Road
(where the school is located) and the old address of 635 Smithfield
street. The two PINS need entered and it will change to the new
address....
Today I tried entering the one PIN number I have and it looks like it
says active now and posted stamped with todays date. I did not enter
the other PIN number from 635 Smithfield because I do not have it and
can not get it. All mail is 'Return to Sender' with the new address.
What do I need to do next? Do I wait? Please help...
If the phone number of the Pittsburg Technical Institute has also changed and you can't receive the postcard mailer, please give me the complete name and address of the incorrect location. I may be able to assist you with this.
Thanks, Jen

The phone number has not changed but goes into an operator, so they
are probably dropping the call. The Old and New Address is below.
Would it be possible to transfer the ownership of this information to
our school account of pti...@gmail.com or else moving it to mine would
be fine boh...@gmail.com and I can transfer it later. I found out
after posting here that our webmaster created a PTI account for the
school. The bigger issue is getting our address correct, I can
transfer ownership of the information later.

I have been working with our in house webmaster Scott Daugherty for
the past 9 months to have our address changed on Google search
results. We closed our location at '635 Smithfield Street, Pittsburgh,
PA 15222' in June and no longer occupy that location. Our campus is
currently located at '1111 McKee Road, Oakdale, Pennsylvania 15071'
and can be verified via our website at http://www.pti.edu.
We originally started by requesting the address change via the
website Google Local. We have received the post card for this location
and have put the PIN into our Google account; however we no longer
receive mail from the '635 Smithfield' location. I was told thru the
Google Groups thread (see below), that Google will call via telephone.
We have a large organization and this call is could be dropped at our
receptionists. I have checked with all of our receptionists and none
of them remember receiving a call from Google.
Please see the thread below Jen said that if the exact information
was sent she would have it changed. This is has been affecting our
business substantially. We have had reports that families have not
come to our campus because they did not want to go downtown. We have
had families of students show up at the downtown doors of a closed
building. We have had families tell us they do not want to do business
because of the confusion we have caused them. We are more than
disappointed that Google has not taken a concern for the families of
students. It is also a direct reflection on Google when we tell
families 'Google is wrong'.
We are the number one career school in Pittsburgh and we have a very
high standard of excellence to up hold. The confusion from Google's
results are lowering our standard and substantially impacting our
business and potential business. Change the address immediately to the
correct address of '1111 McKee Road, Oakdale, Pennsylvania 15071' and
tie the information to pti...@gmail.com. It is has been affecting our
business substantially for the past 6-9 months and can no longer be
tolerated. Please feel free to contact me, my contact info is below.
We need this information changed immediately or we have to get
attorneys involved or escalate the situation in another way.

That is a long period of time to try and get a result. It is also
interesting that you gave very specific contact information in early
December and are still suffering from the same problem.
I've had mixed results with google maps in getting information that is
accurate and that works. In one case, months ago, after being
similarly specific I got quick responses. More recently, like so many
others who complain here, I tried to make some adjustments on my local
business center account and they just never took. They didn't occur.
Frankly in the latter case the adjustments weren't critical so I just
quit trying. I never bothered to report it or get assistance in that
so many other businesses are having similar problems.
As a long time business person I think that from now on I need to make
a memo on every single action taken with regard to the google local
business center in light of slow response. At least then I'll have a
documented series of actions that I can use to back up any problems.
It seems that since google isn't directly charging businesses or
organizations for carrying information on Maps it has no sense of
urgency in correcting problems. Clearly if they were charging
businesses the quantity of complaints would have exploded out of this
groups area into a larger arena.
The problem on the other hand is that my business's information is
provided by Google on a somewhat inconsistent basis contingent on how
often Google maps is shown, and how often it is seen. If it is
inaccurate and it affects my customers it creates enormous problems.
If there is no customer service that is quick and reliable then my
business is at the mercy of google without recourse. Its a totally
unacceptable and random occurance that puts my business at risk.
9 months is an intolerable amount of time to get simple information
fixed. I hope you get this problem solved quickly. Even I can figure
out how to get in contact with you.
Good luck,
Dave

I have sent many requests to the groups site to get this problem
rectified (see Dec 5, Dec 20 & emails). I am being asked of the
progress on this problem and I have not received a response to
anything I have sent in the past. I need to know the status of this
problem. It is affecting our business and the families that visit our
campus. We need a fix to this problem.
It was also brought to my attention that both the plus box and our
highly ranked keywords of 'Pittsburgh technical Institute' display the
wrong information of 635 Smithfield street. Please read below for the
specifics and please get this changed.

Jon,
This morning a young man missed his school bus and his Mom had to
drive him to PTI for the FBLA competition. They ended up at the old
Smithfield Street address. Turns out they followed directions from
Google, which has our 635 Smithfield Street address.
Did we get Googled again?
