Subject: Set Center re-downloads map overlay?
I've been working on this for a few days, taking snippets from Mike's
tutorials, and a few from the reference manual.

http://legendro.net/~anthony/worldro/romap.htm

SO far, it works quite well, but when trying to keep the map from
going off the center, it seems to re-download the map images, is there
a way to have it smoother, or to disable destruction of the images so
they remain there?

I have a marker, which is nice, but at the moment, the map overlay
flashing every single time is very annoying.

Will be adding in Ajax support soon, so I'll copy the romap.htm so I
can leave something fully functional to be reviewed.

-Anthony

Firstly have you tried panTo?

But it doesn't seem to be redownload the tiles, but is repeately
trying some tiles that dont exist, eg
http://legendro.net/~anthony/worldro/googlemaps/8_1_2.png

perhaps you could refine getTileUrl to only return url within known
bounds, otherwise return a url to blank tile. Or maybe you could
actully make your server redirect to a blank tile rather than return a
404 - that might help with the flicker.
