Subject: NavTeq vs. TeleAtlas tiles
I have a problem trying to get the proper tiles onto my page.

Here is an example.  On page http://www.k-b-c.com/weblog/2006/2006.htm
I link to 23 maps.  Some of them are links to google maps directly such
as:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=kailua+kona,+hawaii&om=0&ll=1...

Others I have constructed myself such as:

http://www.beachweddingshawaii.com/google/kekahakai.htm

These are two different kinds of maps with different levels of detail.
I want the first type of map only but embedded in the format of the
second example (with slight location differences).  Andrew has helped
me to see that the difference is that one is a NavTeq map and the other
is TeleAtlas and that I can use parameters to bring the one I want into
my own page.  Which is which and how do I do it?

Thanks,
Dard

It's not technically difficult to grab the Navteq tiles used by
maps.google.com, but it's a violation of copyright. The Terms only
provide you with permission to use the tiles that the API code serves.

from my experience, I think the API maps from Tele Atlas usually work
pretty good.  I haven't had the opportunity to use them in Hawaii
though :(

Mike ~

I don't want to break copyright.  How do I legally use Navteq?

I've seen examples where a map starts out with Navteq tiles on the
continental US states, but by the time you zoom in to the state of
Hawaii, the tiles have changed to Tele Atlas.

Thanks,
Dard

To legally use Navteq tiles, you use maps.google.com. If you want to use the
API, you need to use TeleAtlas.
