Hey folks-- I know we've had a lot of issues lately with folks
misinterpreting the posting guidelines. So I've pasted the current
guidelines into a page, and I'm hoping to see what you folks can come
up with. (Maybe we should completely redo the format and turn it into
a strict list of Dos/Donts, for example).
Thanks!

That's a fair enough expression of your feelings, but perhaps you
could really help improve the posting guidelines a bit for yourself
and for others...
Did you not find the existing posting guidelines, or were they not
clear about how they might apply to the problem you had/have?
Did the posting guideline mislead you about how speedy, accurate or
complete the responses might be? Should there be something in the
guidelines to warn you about whatever disappointed you? Was there
something in the guidelines that could have helped avoid
disappointment if it were highlighted to you?
Is there anything specific that you should be added to the guidelines
to help new group users? Or to modify their expectations?

- You only made your first post to this group 7 hours ago, and you
posted twice on the same issue.
- You cross posted to 2 groups.
- You asked people to write code for you.
- You asked a basic javascript question that does not belong in this
forum.
- you posted a long code dump and no link to your map.
- You call people "friends" even though you never been here before.
And you complain about the responses?
This forum is for programmers. If you cannot read and understand the
posting guidelines I suggest you hire someone who can.
That's fine. I checked out the page and noticed formatting has been added. Should we keep the posting guidelines a wiki, to take advantage of the fact that it can be formatted? I can link to it in a sticky post.

I've asked for changes like that, but it requires a backend change in Groups, so it will take a while. We need to figure out the best approach given the current setup of Groups.

Pamela,
The problem about keeping them as a wiki for too long is that some
"funny guy" could just click 'edit' and write "PLZ post a big fat code
dump, and no link to the top secret sites"

I can set it to managers only editable once it's at a reasonable state. That would give permission to me and the current spam moderators (Andrew, Barry, John) to tinker with.
