I have a map on a page that sometimes stops loading.
The page works perfect, and after a while the maps stops loading on
page refresh.
If I look at firebug the 2 following http requests load forever so I
never get my map to load:
I'm seeing this exact same problem. Here is the url that I'm seeing it
happen at:
http://uk.crimereports.com/map/trends It seems to only happen on page refresh....
I haven't tried it on different versions of firefox yet, but I'm
wondering if this is a bug in the recent firefox 3.0.7 release...?

Oh, and firebug says that the responses from those two 'gg.google.com'
requests have a content-length of 0 bytes each. Is this normal? Also,
when the problem happens, the map tiles don't ever load at all. And
the problem is sometimes *but* *not* *always* accompanied by requests
to "gg.google.com".

Originally I was getting 204 errors from gg.google.com,
now I'm not getting that error, but the page will stop loading on
refresh (not always though, it seems inconsistent).
I'm not getting any error messages anymore, but the last thing that
loads is
Get maps.google.com/maps?file=api&v=2....
and the rest of the page never loads.
Any resolution or solution to this. It's a bit tragic, as visitors can
only visit the site once, and it can hang on subsequent visits unless
they close and reopen firefox.
I seem to have figured this out. It is an issue with firebug and
firefox 3.0.7. If firebug has "Support for JavaScript debugging"
enabled, then it happens. If I uncheck the "Support for JavaScript
debugging" checkbox, the problem goes away.
