Subject: locate where is an Internet Server on Google Maps
Hello!
It's with great pleasure that we announce the birth of a new service
that uses Google Maps!
It's purpose: locate where is an Internet Server (webserver.
mailserver, etc...).
Just type in the url of the Server you're looking for, and the
(supposed!) location will appear on a "result" Map!
Regards,
Roberto Colonello

The url of this new service is:
http://www.parsec.it/whereis/

Roberto,

Nice. It correctly located all three of my servers and my home RR
modem.

It's actually working amazingly well.  It correctly located, down to
the county, of the servers in Hong Kong.  Now remember, there's no
Geolocation data for Hong Kong by Google Map yet, and when they say the
IP is in Hong Kong, central district, the marker was actually point at
the correct location.

man that's spooky.  How'd you do that Roberto?

I've used a very precise geoip database .
If you do a search of a site from http://www.parsec.it/whereis/ now you
will find the banner that links to the website of the database under
the resulting map.
