Picasa doesn't recognise XCF Gimp files - another reason for a native Linux version

Hi

I really like Picasa, I have used it on WinXP as well as Ubuntu.

I noticed whilst Picasa can see and work with PSD files (which is
great), it doesn't seem to be recognising Gimps native file format
XCF.

Unless I am missing something, which is the reason I can't see these
file types, this should be more motivation for Google to consider
producing a native Linux version of the application, perhaps from v4?
That way we can set 'open with' file types and I should be able to see
and open Gimp files.

I see there are a couple of libraries that can handle the format:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XCF_(file_format)
Supporting it seems possible. Don't know whether it's practical,
but I can ask.

Note that Picasa for Linux development has slowed down from
its previously slow pace, so don't hold your breath. (We're all
busy pushing Chrome for Linux out the door.)

Dan, you developers are doing a sterling job on Chrome for Linux, but
please don't forget Picasa ! It's a great tool, but can be made even
better !...

I did check out the link, but I was hoping to look for something I
could 'hook' into Picasa, like and add-on. All I saw was various apps
that could recognise PSD files, which I think is what you were saying.

I was hoping that with Picasa, I could view AND organise my photos and
other images, all within just one application.
I have already installed gwenvew for view both gimp and PSD files, and
I use DigiKam/Picasa to organise and rate images.
So I guess I have to put up with using two apps?
