When I query terms with keyboard shortcuts experimental search, all
the functions are disabled and there's a short message at the top of
my results - "The experiment you're trying to access is no longer
available. Go to experiments overview"
Is it really over!? I've been using this experimental search heavily
for at least a year - right now I'm using accessible view as a crutch.
I really hope this experiment comes back!

I'm getting the same message. This would be incredibly annoying to
have to do without - I prefer to use my mouse as little as possible.
I notice the new "Accessible View" search uses the same keys, in
addition to others; if there was some way to use this without the
magnification that might be an acceptable workaround.

./agreed.

Hmm I didn't see that one; will try that.

Yes, I really don't like that box. The minus key can make it smaller, but that preference is not retained. And it feels a lot more buggier than the other experiment. (Some keys don't behave correctly)
I wish they just added the other lab back and move it over to production as a (by default) disabled option. 99% of google users won't notice it and will never touch it. But we'd be happy. Yes we would.

Exactly - come on Google, don't make us write some kind of browser
plugin! It's no extra effort to you and makes browsing for power users
quicker and easier.
Also, why is it showing as a selectable experiment if it is no longer
available?
Those who have used the keyboard shortcuts alone will know how
beautiful the whole experience was. Come on, Google, please don't
leave us on the lurch like this. The accessibility option is not as
good as the original keyboard shortcuts option.
If you are hell bent on removing the old one, then at least provide an
option to switch off the magnification please. Thanks.

Seconded. Or at least retain the zoom factor. Also be consistent with
the short-cut experiment, why o open the page where the cursor is?
I feel the need to add my two cents to this discussion too. Keyboard
shortcuts are extremely handy and to have lost them is a real time
waster for me. Please bring them back. Accessible View blows! no way
to disable sounds, no way to retain minimized window setting... no
way!

If that link doesn't work, go to the experimental search page (http://
www.google.com/experimental/index.html) and select the results for
"rattlesnake" - there should then be a prompt asking you to take the
survey.

Alkaline33: Thanks for the suggestion, and in fact that is the first
thing I did yday as soon as I saw Miguel's post that it is working
fine again. I selected the experiment, clicked rattlesnake, took the
survey and provided a link to this very thread in Google Groups to
tell them (if they care to read the survey :) how much it means to
some of the power users around the globe.
It will be really useful if more people would take the survey and
provide link to this thread. So guys, please take the survey. Guess we
should have done that long long back :).

In fact I filled the survey when I'd started using this experiment. So, I don't see the point of taking it again. If the only option for expressing our opinion is to "discuss with others", then I discuss with others. It would be stupid if they don't read these threads.
