Search not finding close matches?

So i was playing around with Desktop Search and i searched through a
bunch of old invoices which are in word and are not password protected
or anything and desktop search seems to have problems with them.
Say I want to find "apartment aa201" if I type apartment i get tons of
results but the invoice I am looking for is the 4th one on the list.... more »

Hello,
I just installed google Desktop and I am having some difficulties with
it. When I try to access the option/preferences by pressing the
downward arrow at the top of the sidebar and then selecting them, my
browser opens and redirects to this address [link].

Hello All,
Just would like to ask for some help about GD.
After installation, I received a error message "invalid google gadget
package", Google desktop is able to start only with limited gadget.
When I try to download more gadget, (there is only download button,

"Search Across Computers" checkbox not there

A few others have asked this question and it has not been answered.
I just installed Google Desktop today (Nov. 9 2009)
I do not see the checkbox for "search across computers" on Google
Desktop. It is not "grayed out". There just ISN'T an option or a
checkbox.

I've had very good experiences with google desktop in the past, but i
just got my new laptop at work and it just refuses to work properly!
To begin with the indexing is atrocious, its over in under a minute
even though I have about 7-8 gigs worth of indexable data. further it
only shows those files that ive opened recently.... more »

Hi,
As mentioned in the subject, I can't seem to be able to launch files
using the quick search box (ctrl ctrl).
The only files I can open are webpages.
However, I realised that when I right clicked a particular file that I

email gadget onsidebar

Three days ago the email gadget on the sidebar stopped indexing and
showingwhen emails arrive. I've tried everything; reinstalling,
restarting etc. It still doesn't work. I don't want to do anything
drastic. I have plenty of room on my hard drive and and everything

Folks,
The Google Desktop search bar has stopped working, apparently due to
too-slow searching of the local desktop index. This problem started a
couple of weeks ago.

Desktop not indexing emails imported into Thunderbird

If we import emails from outlook they are fine when viewing in
Thunderbird but GD never indexes them. We have gone through the
process of deleteing all GD files, uninstalling and then
reinstalling. We are currently on GD 5.9.0909.08267-en-pb TB 2.0.0.23

I have just upgraded my SeaMonkey browser/email suite to version 2.0.
I am getting my browser web page history archived in Google Desktop,
but not my e-mail. Sure would like to get this resolved ASAP. Help!
