What if I can only spell part of the name ??

What is up with that ?? Is there a work around ??

Hi jad700,

For partial word searches, I recommend you use the Quick Search Box
(press Ctrl twice in quick succession to launch it). As you type,
you'll see hits appear in the list in real time. You can then select
the file or result from the list.

Yes that is a reasonable start,
but how about if the Google Desktop team just fix the problem.
I notice many of the blog posts deal with this issue .

Related to this are the various comments that have been made about
characters in search text strings-

like    - _ ,    etc  which seem treated like wild card characters.

Thus Alan-Bates  or Alan,Bates matches Alan Bates and so on.
In fact, that's how google internet search works too.

I wonder who decided that. Weird, isn't it.

In a normal text search (say in Word) that's simply not how it works.

Why does Google have to be so non-intuitive - inconsistent with
'normal' practice?

Ben, where's the specification document for Google search strings
please?
