Subject: Google Desktop Email Gadget (deleted items still appear, "remove" doesn't delete)
Hi,

1) Deleted items still appear in the list:
The problem lies with when I delete e-mails from either Outlook or
Gmail - the "Google Desktop Email Gadget" does not update - deleted
items still appear in this list.

2) Should be able to delete mail from the gadget:
I use the "Google Desktop Email Gadget" to view my mail quickly - if
its interesting I open it. The problem is that there is a lot of email
which I could just delete on the spot. But the gadget has a "Remove"
option - well it doesn't really do as it should - it only hides the
e-mail from the gadgets list.

I believe the current "Remove" option should be renamed to "Hide" and
another button should be added to either "Remove" or "Delete" - this
button should actually delete the e-mail.

Background:
I have the "Google Desktop Email Gadget" installed and it seems to pull
mail from both my Gmail account and my Microsoft Exchange Outlook
account - this is fine.

I hope this is helpful,
As in its current state the "Google Desktop Email Gadget" is useless to
me as I end up reading e-mails twice, once in the gadget and once in
the mail client (Outlook or Google Mail).

Let me know what you think,
Regards,
Dean Taylor.

Deleted items showing up has always been a "feature" of Google Desktop.

The gmail gadget (at least) utilizes POP3, and what you're experiencing
is a limitation of that one-way communication from using POP3. The
email gadget would need to be a full-on email client in order to delete
and stay concurrent with your originating server account. Which wouldnt
be a bad thing IMHO, but then if you do that, when do you stop with the
feature requests? Slippery slope, especially when you probably want
people to use the actual Gmail interface as much as possible so you can
view their ads. (any bells go off yet?).

I agree a more full featured email gadget would be cool, but think
you're overstating it a bit with the "useless" comment though:

"I use the "Google Desktop Email Gadget" to view my mail quickly - if
its interesting I open it."
