In Chrome, while browsing in Incognito mode, google desktop does not
pick up the web history. But in Firefox 3.5, even while in private
Browsing mode the web history is being indexed. Is there a way to work
around it? Or is there a way to prevent a particular profile of
firefox alone from being indexed? I have tried removing the 3 dll
entries from the compreg.dat file, but it places it again there after
some time :-(

Please try a newer version of Google Desktop. Your 5.7 edition is over
a year old and we weren't prepared for Firefox 3.5 then :)
We have a pre-release of Google Desktop 5.9 available here:
http://dl.google.com/dl/desktop/L/en/GoogleDesktopSetup.exe
For best results, you may want to uninstall and completely remove your
old index before installing this newer version.

Even with the new version of Google Desktop search, the indexing takes
place when firefox is in private browsing mode. It seems like Google
Desktop search is still not prepared for Firefox 3.5, which is being
used by around 11 million internet users.
