Subject: Google Gadget List
I made a Google Gadget (in fact is an iGoogle loaded to the sidebar,
Menu -> Add Widget -> WIDGET_URL)

Now I don't want the final user has to got to Menu -> Add Widget...
etc... I want my widget be in the gadget list in te side bar (http://
www.webdriver.com.ar/shared/gadget_list.JPG)

I look for information on the Gadget API website for information how
to add my gadget to that list, but I couldn't found useful
information.

Anyone know now can I add my Gadget to that list (http://
www.webdriver.com.ar/shared/gadget_list.JPG)?

Thanks in advance,
Miguel

AFAIK there is currently no automated way to add iGoogle gadgets to the
sidebar. The only way is the way you described.

Best regards,
Benjamin

But I can upload my iGoogle Gadget to the list of Desktop Gadget (
http://desktop.google.com/plugins/) and I want to my gadget will be in the
list I mentioned before too (
http://www.webdriver.com.ar/shared/gadget_list.JPG).

Also the help of google desktop say the iGoogle Gadget can be listed in the
list I mentioned

*Add Google Gadgets from your iGoogle
homepage<http://www.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=20324>to
your sidebar

> *. Simply click the "+" button at the top of your sidebar to search for

If you have added the file to the list once it will remember. It will
however not list the catalog of iGoogle gadgets.
Maybe the text from the knowledgebase is a bit confusing in that
aspect.

In short:
* If you have added a iGoogle gadget once it will be listed in the
"Add Gadget" dialog from now on.
* The search function of "Add Gadget" will only search the gadgets
listed at http://desktop.google.com/plugins/
* If you submit your iGoogle gadget to the Desktop Gadget list it will
most likely be denied and you will be instructed to add it to the
iGoogle list.

Greetings,
Benjamin

Sorry I insist on the subject :P

I got an example: Air Hockey

is an iGoogle Gadget NOT listed in the Desktop Gadget Webpage (
http://desktop.google.com/plugins/) but is listed in the Google Desktop
Gadget (I never installed before, just when I see it listen on the desktop)

this is the screenshot comparing the Desktop and the Gadget listed on
iGoogle
http://www.webdriver.com.ar/shared/gadget_compare.jpg

by the way, thanks Benjamin for responding :)

Thanks for the example. I checked on a clean installation and it does
in fact list the Air Hockey iGoogle gadget. I don't know how the
author did it but I will forward your thread to the GD devs. Maybe
they can answer this.

Best regards,
Benjamin

Subject: Re: Google Gadget List
I have some new for you:

I have been informed, that it is not possible for developers to add
iGoogle gadgets to the Google Desktop gadgets list. But the Google
Desktop team selects which iGoogle gadgets are added to the list,
usually this is based on the gadgets popularity. This is what happened
with the Ari Hockey iGoogle gadget.

So the only thing you could do is create a iGoogle gadget, add it to
the iGoogle gadget list and if it is popular enough it might get
listed there but there is of course no guarantee.

Greetings,
Benjamin
