The number of results of localsearch will vary depending of the place
that you are searching. In USA and UK they are pretty accurate and a
lot of results. For other places (e.g. Latinamerican countries) the
results are none. However you can query for the entries made by the
community (non google bots indexing) on google maps. The quality vary
a lot, you can get very good entries or very lousy ones. To do it
include in the query the mrt? option equal to blended.

mrt? This optional argument specifies which type of listing the user
is interested in. Valid values include:
blended - request KML, Local Business Listings, and Geocode results
kmlonly - request KML and Geocode results
localonly - request Local Business Listings and Geocode results
If this argument is not supplied, the default value of localonly is
used.
