I'm getting a news feed that comes in the format as shown at this
site: http://warmearthdaily.com/warm.htm

Can someone point me to some examples of how I can modify this code to
display the results differently?

Ideally, I'd love for the results to be categorized under a date
header and then have a format:

July 2, 2008
-------------------
News Headline1 - Author1
Summary1
------------------
News Headline2 - Author2
Summary2

July 1, 2008
-------------------
News Headline1 - Author1
Summary1
------------------
News Headline2 - Author2
Summary2

And if anyone wants to really help a noob, can someone tell me what
the heck those grey boxes are above column3 on my webpage? I can't
make them go away. Thanks!

You can certainly do what you want to with the items being categorized
by date, but you'll have to build a custom control to do it. What I
will recommend is to take a look at the examples Google has provided
to glean the general principles that you're going to need and then
take a stab at it.

As for the little gray boxes, they're caused by two empty divs that
are on line 388 of your page code.

Finally, as you're venturing into this stuff, I will strongly
recommend using Mozilla Firefox with the Firebug and Web Developer
extensions installed. With that setup, all I had to do to find your
gray boxes was to put my mouse pointer on them, right-click, and
choose "Inspect Element" in the context menu that appears.
