Hi,

I have posted this question previously but was hoping someone from
Google could provide some insight.

We are in the process of integrating a Local Search API into our
mobile navigation application (see: www.novlummobile.com), but are
stumbling on the following Term:

"
You will not, and will not permit users or other third parties to:
display Google Search Results for local search geospatially except by
using the Google Maps service;
"

We interpret the term in two ways:
1. Local search cannot be performed in any application that does not
display Googe Maps service.
2. Results from a local search can be displayed in a textual list, but
not geospatially on our mapping API.

Our application doesn' t use a browser so therefore we cannot display
the results in google maps. I noticed Garmin Mobile XT, TomTom, and
BMW offer local search. Is that done under a separate agreement?

I hope the second interpretation is correct.
Thanks,
Graham

Considering that Google provides applications and examples to display
the local results in a textual list, I would interpret the term in
line with your second interpretation. For use in a mobile
application, you may want to check out the Google Static Maps API.

Thanks Jeremy, I'm gonna hope # 2 is the intent.

Any Google Local Search API staffers care to chime in?

Thanks,
Graham

As you correctly interpreted, the section you quote indicates that if
you display the results geospatially, you must do so using the Google
Maps service.

Cheers!
