Google AJAX API - no country select ability

Hi Google AJAX API group,

I am surprised to find that the AJAX API has no ability to chose a
country for search within.

If you are living anywhere outside the US, for example UK, FR, AU, NZ.
Then you are likely to use your local search e.g. www.google.com.au,
and choose 'pages from Australia'.

I can add this option to search urls by adding cr=countryAU.
Previously you could define this in SOAP requests, but as SOAP
requests are depreciated and I can no longer apply for an API key I
cannot use the SOAP interface.

Is this going to be a feature in the AJAX API?

Otherwise this API is pretty useless for most countries,
