Subject: IMAP/POP issues with Outlook 2003 and 2007
I have been using this flawlessly for quite some time between 2
different computers and a cell phone for about a year.  As of this
last week all of a sudden, about Saturday June 27th it stoped working.

I have gone back and checked the settings of the GMAIL to make sure it
is authorized to do both POP and IMAP, ended up changing my password
on both GMAIL and Outlook to try and fix the problem, checked all
settings, and still can not get Outlook to download my new mail from
one of my gmail accounts.  The baffling thing is that my other GMAIL
account is being downloaded without a problem to Outlook 2003.

No changes have been made to settings, etc, it just stoped working.

Now when I do a test email this is the message I get:

Send test e-mail message: Outlook could not logon to the outgoing mail
server (SMTP).  The problem could be the server name, your server may
require authentication, or your server may not support SSL.  Verify
authentication and SSL options under More settings.

When I force a send receive this is the error message I get for the
problematic Outoolk 2003 Gmail account:
Task 'Email Account Name' - Receiving' reported error (0X800CCC92) :
'Your e-mail server rejected your login.  Verify your user name and
password in your account properties.  Under Tools, click E-Mail
accounts.  The server responded: ERR [AUTH] Username and password not
accepted.'

I've done multiple searches online for this problem and have got no
positive feedback, although found others facing same issues.  Any and
all help would be appreciated!

Subject: Re: [Gmail-Users] IMAP/POP issues with Outlook 2003 and 2007

I have had this problem in the past, and I never determined the reason
for it. But what had happened, as near as I can guess, is that the stored
password became corrupted. This is based on what finally fixed it, which was
deleting the stored password, restarting Outlook, and then re-storing the
password when prompted. It happened more than once, and this procedure is
what I had to eventually do each time. I hope it helps. (I have never used
Office 2007, so none of what I say applies to that program. I did have this
problem with Outlook 2003 and with Thunderbird, so i suspect the problem
actually lies somewhere in Windows itself and how it stores user
information. I don't know for sure though.)
