Those of you always adding extra accounts for space may finally be saved. :)

It looks like they may be preparing for something along the lines of a GDrive.  They are finally connecting storage across multiple services.  I wonder if they will be merging the free storage of GMail and Picasa.  It would also be nice of them to just combine all the storage into one pool, for Picasa, GMail, Documents, Page Creator, and anything else that we can upload stuff to.

Read the link I posted... basically your free storage space (2.8
GMail, 1G Picasa) is dedicated to the service it's on... the purchased
space is available to all services.

What I meant to say was, "I wonder if they will be merging the free storage in the future."

Sorry for my ignorance, but is Picasa something related to Gmail, or is this
a completely different kettle of fish?:) Thanks!

I've read that.
But there seems to be (hum.. how do I say it...) "some
inconsistencies"
between charging 20 bucks for 6GB and some users getting 9GB for free.

Picasa is Google's photo application (web posting, local storage and
retrieval, and editing).

Do you know of someone getting the 9G for free? The blog posting
refer to people with Picasa Premium (a paid service) having the 9G,
but I see no mention of people getting it for free.

finally ive been suggesting this like 23644566 times a day lol

i think gmail is just integrating everything just to make everything
easier

hopefully their next step will be making socialstream (see link) and
then intergrate everything and have one massive googly empire and then
come out with a OS. ahh it'll be great

It seems to me that more storage is now available and fairly cheap.  NOW, say I purchase 6GB...which I have no intention of doing, but lets just say, now when I purchase the 6GB, does that combine the total I have now with the 6GB to make it 8886MB?  Or does it make it 6GB total storage?

You will have 2.8GB of free storage in GMail, and 1GB of free storage in Picasa, then 6GB of additional shared storage between both of them.  When one of them runs out of free storage, it will start using your additional paid storage.

Read the articles... 6GB = 6144MB + 2886MB = 9030MB, hence the subject line.

Then, as Nick stated, the 6GB is available and shared between all
Google Services (of note right now are GMail and Picasa, but
presumably Googlepages and Docs&Spreadsheets could also benefit from
this).

So this won't be good for someone like me who's blind then, obviously.
Thanks for the help.
