Interesting point......the google logo I feel reflects functionality in it's
colors, and the services themselves simply use KISS (Keep it simple stupid)

In many ways the logo itself is extremely simple, merely the word Google.
But it has many colors to indicate that it has depth in it's simplicity

Or the creators just liked that logo design.  heh.  Don't read to far into
things.

yeah, i think larry and sergey just liked the colors. Interestingly, the
original logo is still hosted on the google servers:
