Now that *everyone* has themes in their accounts, let's get a
discussion going! Tell us what you love or hate, what you want to see
next, what you'd change... we want to know!

I love the mountain theme (thanks!) and look forward to its regional
changes (?)...
BUT I want to change the blue background behind the email LIST - which
is blue whether I choose the Mountain or Pebble backgrounds. I want
to choose my own LIST coloring [blue is hard on my eyes]. Perhaps you
could let us tweak our chosen themes a bit more? PLeeeease???

Really it's a great feature you have just launched, it's AWESOME!
I had an idea that might be really cool and will give the users
variety of theme choices, you can use iGoogle themes to be applied to
Gmail, so when I choose an iGoogle theme, it's applied automatically
to my Gmail account so that all my Google related pages can have a
unified theme.

I have two different gmail accounts, one of them got a notice about
the themes and I changed to the ocean theme, really love it and the
colors, easier to read.
But the other e-mail account does not have a theme button to click on,
any ideas??
Also how can I increase the font size of the mailbox, the list of the
messages in the inbox? I am in firefox and have tried everything I
know of.
Thanks
Terry

The ninja one is the best. The planets one was very dark and not
really useable.
I can't wait for the themes to make it to the Google Apps mail
interface as I've had
requests already from others who use Apps to show them how it's done.
I think bingorabbit's idea of carrying themes from gmail to igoogle is
good, however igoogle is
a lot more restrictive in what part is themed and it might be hard to
co-ordinate.
Hi,
This new feature is very cool, but i just wonder why don't you
support
a dropdownlist for
City list base on the Country/Region which user selected.
Since after i selected my Country (VietNam), i try to fill my City's
name into City field,
but it always return INVALID after the validation even i tried to all
ways i can (both unicode or not unicode are invalid).
I wonder it's error of the validation or just this city (Ho Chi Minh)
has not supported till now.
So why don't you just show a list of supported cities base on the
selected Country/Region ? I do believe this is much better.
Thanks.
Thank you, for adding something I thought would be fluff... but has
turned out to be wonderful. :-)
I've been luck enough to have had Gmail since 2004, and if I had been
asked about possible improvements for Gmail, themes would not have
even occurred to me.
But being partially color blind, and having a slight visual
impairment, it's truly amazing how several of the new themes help me
to differentiate read and unread emails much more quickly and clearly.
Previously I could not tell the color change between read and unread,
and had to look more closely to see if the text was bolded or not.
So thank you Gmail team. First for the wonderful gift of Gmail, and
now for themes that make it easier for me to read and skim.
I can't say I am enthused about the themes. I like gmail how it was
and the only theme I like now is the default one which is not as good
as the previous. I don't like the fonts of the new one, the way
buttons aren't buttons, the light colors, and the way there's a big
box around my messages.
What would be nice though is a decent dark theme. The dark contrast
theme is not for me and silver lining has white backgrounds. Yuck.
Also, some of the font colors in silver lining are too dark and hard
to read.
Please give me a decent dark theme google. Make it like the original
theme but reverse the colors so the background is black.
I really like the new themes; i find the Contrast Black is much better
on the eyes. However, i found that when im in my inbox (or any
window) it is difficult to read the text when mousing over something
because the active highlight is too close to the text color.
Thanks again for the themes, i really hope you can change that.

are these themes based on location because I have 26 themes to choose
from... I don't have planets or mountain themes..?? Is there a place
to add more or customize them?

I'm not sure how to post to this discussion other than to reply..don't
see a menu choice...?
I agree, there needs to be a way to control the contrast/ color of
read vs unread mail. Hpe it gets addressed soon!
In all, I love this change ( currently: planets) , as long as it
doesn't slow the page down noticeably.

I would like a way to remove the theme. I'm using Better Gmail 2
Gmail Redesigned 2.0 and prefer that skin to the theme. I would like
the ability to just have the skin without the theme.

Some of the themes are lovely but for me, unusable, as the contrast
between the read and unread messages in the inbox is too slight and I
have to squint at the messages to tell which ones are unread.

I love some of these themes... What I would love more is if I could
get a consistent look among iGoogle, gMail, Google Calendar, and
Google Reader. Really, Google should get a "Global Theme" thing going
where I could apply some of these lovely color schemes across the
board. It would feel more like an application suite that way.

I love what the themes add to Gmail! In the spirit of sharing, let me
offer up my own personal tweaks. I've set up a user stylesheet to
increase available space by collapsing the top bars together, and fix
the logo and left links to the viewport so that I always have quick
access to labels and the inbox. Check it out, and feel free to steal
the concept if you like it!
