Subject: How to change Gmail email address without loosing archived folders and contacts
Hello,
I am looking at changing my email address from lori.grady@gmail to
lori.lowe@gmail.

After reading; it appears that I would either have to completely
delete my old email address and create a new one, but I do not want to
loose all my contact information or archived folders.

What is the best way to handle this?

In addition I use Calendar and Picassa.  Will I loose that if I have
to create a new email address?

Thank you for your help.
L'

If this ("after reading....") is true, this would be an important
feature request (to be able to change one's account / username) -
unless there's an important argument / reason for not allowing this
(SPAM issue or similar), which then should be given.
[I suppose many users have the same need, and not providing this
possibility will only result in "duplicate" accounts importing emails
from each other and thus uselessly filling up storage space (among
other inconveniences).]
If it's not true, it might be useful to have a link here pointing to
instructions on how to do that change ; anyway, thanks in advance for
providing an appropriate answer to this question.

Runfar:

Keep old address, do not delete it or you will lose all contact
information or archived folders.
Create a new email address.

Contacts can be exported from old address
to new at any time after you set up new account.

Email received at old address can be POP 3 forwarded
from old account to new account.

Forward all mail from old address to new address.
Here's how:
Log out of old address > log in with new address ID
Click:
   Settings >
   Accounts tab >
   Get mail from other accounts:
   (download mail using POP3)
Click:
   Add another mail account
   Add your old address

If you delete the old account, all the saved email is gone forever.
