I had been happy with GMAIL for several years, but now it is becoming
a real problem. GMAIL support is nonexistent!! I am not receiving my
emails in a reasonable time. For example I received an email on
10/22/08 that was sent on 10/06/08, but many are delayed 36 to 48
hours & there is no way to contact support for help. The "Blog", "Help
Center" & "Discussion Groups" are worthless. My next change is to dump
GMAIL because there does not seem to be a way to find a solution or
where the problem is.

GMAIL Support SUCKS!!

Is there anyway to find out why it takes days for emails to arrive?

Start by posting the full headers of a delayed mail here. To get them,
go to "view original" on the menu next to "reply" in the upper right
corner of the message.

Or, if you want to diagnose it yourself, google has a detailed
troubleshooter for the problem:
