502 errors are still happening. Is Google aware of the problem? The
alert announcement sub group only has a thread about this from a few
days ago, that was supposedly resolved...

One of my tow Gmail accounts was down last week for 24 hours with the
"502" error. Both of them are down now with 502, for about the last
five minutes, after a morning full of "cache is full" warnings. I
followed all the instructions, dumped IE's temp files/cookies/history/
etc...and now the old 502. What's up, Google? Can I depend on Gmail or
not?

I also get the 502 errors. This problem used to occur once a month,
and now it seems to be once a week. It always takes more than 24 hours
for them to repair. Most unreliable email service ever.

I just started to get this error message, hopefully Google is aware of
the problem and is working towards a resolution and *knock on wood*
email I haven't yet received isn't being bounced.

the good news is that I am not alone .... odd symptoms though - gmail
worked fine till about 10 mins ago and then packed up entirely to the
502 error - emails that allegedly were unable to be sent actually
arrived before the final collapse. I do need gmail - so I do hope this
is resolved quickly.
This suggestion is excellent and full of win. While I still get a 502
with "regular" Gmail (and have been for the last half hour), that URL
at least lets me *read* my email.
That said, I've said it before and I'll say it again. I've been
working in the computer industry for 10 years now, and I am simply
ASTONISHED that Google does such a terrible job of handling situations
like this. No detailed message about what the cause of the problem
is, no ETA until a fix, nothing. It really smacks of a "We don't care
about you" attitude from Google. They need to fix this if they want
to be taken more seriously in the workplace.
I would like to report that contrary to the current status update
(10:47pm GMT 11 August 2008) on the 502 error I cannot login via
gmail.com or IMAP on both Apple Mail and my iPhone.
This is about god damn ridiculous. This shit happened last week and
now it's happening again. I switched from a hotmail account not too
long ago because I heard so many great things about gmail and I
figured that since it was run by Google it should be great. As of now
Google can go fuck themselves. I understand problems happen and that
can be expected from time to time, but seriously seems like this shit
happens all the time on here. I need something more dependable than
this and it seems like most of the people on here do as well. So fuck
you Google and your piece of shit gmail, you can shove it up your ass
for all I care, I'm done with you.

the html version's stopped woring for me, though. i'm not sure why. i
tried to send from it (something i've done before, with no troubles)
and it died on me. now i can't even get the html version to load.
