The latest on webcam compatibility:

We have recently fixed several issues with webcams that did not work
with Gmail voice and video chat:
- The web browser would crash when using some Creative webcams (fixed
in version 1.0.3)
- The web browser would crash when using some Sony Vaio integrated
webcams (fixed in version 1.0.5)
- All webcams would not work if you were using a machine with an
Athlon XP, Pentium III, or older Celeron CPUs (fixed in version 1.0.5)
- On Mac, webcams that required the macam driver would not work (fixed
in version 1.0.5)
- On Mac, webcams would not work if you had an old version of
QuickTime (fixed in version 1.0.5)

There are still some remaining issues where webcams will not work with
Gmail voice and video chat.
- Most camcorders are not yet supported.
- Cameras that only support MJPG modes (according to camcaps.exe) do
not currently work. Note though if your camera name is "USB Video
Device", your camera is using a generic driver; installing the
manufacturer's specific driver for your camera may resolve the
problem.

Version 1.0.5 is being deployed today. If you are still experiencing
problems with your camera on version 1.0.5, please continue to post
them here.

Best regards,
Justin
