Subject: Comcast and Google Video drop out
During a meeting today the video connection to a remote user was
dropping every 10-30 minutes. That user had a VPN connection on a
separate machine that was also dropping at the same time.

The meeting was setup as follows (no VPN involved in this case)

1. Corporate machine (XP) with GVC/Firefox
2. Remote user machine OS X with GVC/Safari
3. Remote machine on Comcast modem.

Because the user was dropping an unrelated (different machine) VPN
connection at the same time as the GVC session we suspect a Comcast
problem

In some early research we find many, many complaints about OS X iChat
use with Comcast, and even more comments about VPN unreliability with
Comcast @Home.

Are there known issues with Comcast @Home service and Google Video
Chat?

Are there any workarounds?

Thanks!
john

Subject: Google Video Chat OS X and VPN - problems
I've been testing Google Video Chat over our corporate connections.

The Windows client seems pretty stable.

The OS X client with XP machine where there are no weird firewall or
VPN issues. When I put VPN into the equation the XP to XP clients
survive, but the OS X to XP clients fail -- sometimes immediately,
sometimes after a few minutes.
