Ms. Trivison, my apology for not answering your e-mail about the ESAM Surprise Party sooner.
It seems that you are playing games. Let me ask the question again: Do you know the name of the company/organization that is sponsoring the private surprise party at Gas Works Park scheduled for August 11th and under production now as indicated in the attached note below?
"This thing is huge and it'll be getting even bigger tomorrow [Sept 9]. A half dozen production trailers (some w/o proper flat board ground protection), dozens of 2000 pound concrete anchors, giant pavilions, lighting structures, runways, scaffolding and staging - and they're going to sod a whole elevated platform tomorrow - putting just as much weight on the stands then ever would have been put on grandstands by Summer Nights. Production offices, several dozen loaders and lifts, and they even rebuilt and graveled over a road from the playground to the point overlooking the water! (This was done by the city according to 'Oliver' from The Workshop, the company in charge of the production, and the road was paid for by The Workshop according to Oliver.) (Oliver appears to be the head production honcho down there and can be reached at oli...@workshopevents.com and his cell is 206.679.2534) Oliver gave me indication that he knew full well that Virginia Swanson was very purposeful in not notifying people properly because it would have killed the event - and stated that because of how this went down - this will probably be the last event like this in Gas Works Park."BS

I just copied to you a "tip" I sent to Susan Paynter of the PI. She wrote a great artlcle last spring in support of the Wallingford community on the occasion of Judge Lum's ruling. I read the material assembled below in this email and feel that it would make good reading for Susan. If you agree, I will leave it to you to forward it to her. If you know of any other favorable columists, maybe they should be tipped as well. I think this is what Dave had in mind when he suggested a "political" approach to protest.

Virginia,
It seems that you are playing games.

Ms. Trivison, my understanding is ESAM is a marketing company. I do not believe this is the ESAM Company listed below.
Is this the same ESAM Company that makes cables for Dept of Defense?
ESAM is a well-established full service contract manufacturer of custom cable/wire assemblies, wire/cable harnesses, and electrical/pneumatic box builds.
We occupy a new 47,000 sq. ft. facility in southern Oregon, with convenient, economical access to major trucking and air shipping lanes.
ESAM facility
We are a certified Hub Zone Manufacturer. If your quality standards require ISO certification, we provide that along with meeting UL, CSA and IPC specifications.
Our customers include major companies serving the Medical, Defense/Aerospace, Capital Equipment, Gaming, Telecommunications and Instrumentation markets.
I went over with my grandson earlier today. It's shocking! Looks like a big Hollywood production. They have a little fence part way around the big fence but also are inside the big fence. Talked to 3 staff (of what looked like about 50-100 staff and workers) - all said it's a private party but they don't know who. When I said but it's a public park, one said "it's been reserved just like reserving a picnic shelter". Saw 3 park dept. CB
Cheryl, I flew into Lake Union today and saw what was going on at GWP
and couldn't believe it--this is a complete end-around per Ben's
comments and more importantly, an EIR should be completed on
exit--there's no way they can put the type of equipment in the park
that's there today without disturbing the protective top layer of the
park. MS

Dear Councilmember:
WHY is this going at at Gasworks Park, in violation of last year's court ruling in the One Reel/Summer Nights case? Who are these people and why are they being allowed to trample the law? Since when does Virginia Swanson make the rules around here?
I demand some answers!

Seriously, it is absolutely unbelievable that you people are so up-in- arms about this! You really think that having a party/concert in the park is going to some kind of major environmental damage or ruin your standard of living?????? I have lived across the street from Gasworks for years and I think it is a great thing! You people, with your faux-environmental postering make me laugh. A park is supposed to be USED not coddled.
