summer bounty
|
| |
Hi All, I notice that in several plots the tomatoes and squash are ripening and cantelopes are about the size of a woman's hand. How large are melons supposed to get and is it better to pluck them a little before? I'm plucking my tomatoes a little after they turn red otherwise some animal gets to them as soon as they are completely ripe.... more »

Still interested but it seems someone's in my plot
|
| |
Hi, hope you're enjoying the summer. I'm on campus again and finally
have the opp to tend my plot regularly. Last I checked (last weekend)
tomatoes were planted and there were red cups with the initials DP.
Does this mean the plot's been given to someone else?
Peace,
Cynthia

cut worms and tomatoes
|
| |
Alright, bit of bad news yall. The garden has cutworms. The best
remedy for this is to put a but of aluminum foil around the base of
your plant. Make sure it goes a couple of inches above and below
the soil.
Here is a good site with a simple summery of what cutworms are and how
to control them. [link]... more »

Alright! The newest season is just getting started and many of you
have already planted or are doing so. Things are off to a good
though somewhat slow start. Lets take this year to make this garden
spectacular! I've been around to the other community gardens and I
have to say that we have the potential to be the most impressive (not... more »

Hi All,
I've not been able to make the meetings or get to my plot recently,
but I"m still interested and will check on my plot more frequently.
I"m still working on those seedlings. I'll be in my plot this week and
wonder if there's anything in particular I need to be doing.
Enjoy spring break.... more »

Viewing Full Lunar Eclipse - Feb. 20
|
| |
Hi everyone, Tomorrow night the Physics Department and Texas Astronomical Society host a star party for the public to view the full lunar eclipse. Please join us with your friends; it'll be fun! See [link] for detailed information. The "adjacent field near the sidewalk leading to the Founders North Building" where we will gather is most probably the field north of Berkner Hall (BE). If not, it'll be the field north of Classroom Building West (CBW). You'll see some telescopes set up in the field.... more »
