Maybe if everyone that *disagrees* with Google changing Pages to
Sites, perhaps google will not do it. Sort of like a petition... well,
here's my signature.

I strongly oppose google's decision to convert GPC to google sites for
now. Many of us have popular websites with .googlepages.com domain and
google must clearly define what they are going to do with those. I
suggest google to keep the existing gpc sites with unchanged url and
provide the same existing setting.

I am too, you see, I have several sites with google pages from YEARS
of work. All of my sites have HTML codes on them that will not work on
Google Sites... a real bummer.

Google please tell us in detail what changes will actually be made.
The most disastrous change for me would be to change/deactivate URL...
I dont want to believe that google would do something like that! That
would be against humanity!
Although we 'agreed ' to GPC's "terms of use" where it said...
"Google reserves the right at any time and from time to time
to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, Google services
(or any part thereof) with or without notice. You agree that Google
shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification,
suspension or discontinuance of Google services."
we have no legal right to stop google! just we can request them!
Like I posted in the other discussion on this topic. This is a huge
error on the part of Google. I know because I write tutorials on GPC
and my readers absolutely adore it.
Everybody, just be sure to spread the word of this petition to
everyone you know! Linda, it would be a great help if you would post
something on your site that said your sites will be closed if google
did this, and the people who really like your site will sign the
petition as well.

I've just moved a new domain to Google Apps and got a fright when I
saw that GPC was gone. Sites is nowhere near as good as what I have
been able to achieve with GPC.
My current practice (www.lifeheal.net) depends on GPC, and all my
advertising is via Adwords - right now I'm extremely nervous! Larry &
Sergey, hope you are going to live up to "do no evil" :-(
I find it rather interesting that you post this petition here. Do you
think Google reads the stuff we put here? There is one Google
employee that is here and guess what he is the group moderator for
"Sites" group as well. You might want to try
http://groups.google.com/group/GPCDiscussionGroup/post?sendowner=1&_d... Which should be the link to contact this group owner (same guy,
probably).
Actually getting in touch with Google, good luck.
As it sit right now they just aren't adding any new sign ups. So who
knows how long they will keep the existing pages active.
I thought about going off the deep end when I heard this, but why
bother. Your time and effort to build your pages mean nothing to
Google. I actually spent money to make my pages work (Custom Domain
Name) which I erroneously assumed was tied to Google Pages, its not,
Its tied to Google Apps and farmed out to GoDaddy, except GoDaddy
can't help you. Having worked in the build across the way from
GoDaddy, I know how to contact them if I had to.
Interested in support, http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/request.py.
If you select web pages and click on continue you will never guess
where you will end up. Also Interesting "Apps" seems to consider
Google Pages as an app.
You get what you pay for.
I think your best bet is to find a way to back up your pages and hope
that you have time to find a new home. Maybe Google would be willing
to sell the domain name "googlepages.com", ha ha.
Legally you probably can't move to another host since the templates
are probably proprietary.
I'm going out for a cocktail.
IF YOU ARE LISTEN GOOGLE, Please keep Google Pages Running.
My first impression is I don't see how this thing ever could replace
the idea of Googlepages, our very own websites. It more gives me the
feeling of the ultimate marriage with Google in everything personal we
create... I expect our Googlepages will have some time to breath
'under Googlesites' or whatever, but after at most 'few years' it will
be game over and we can start all over again. Example: What is the
value of your Googlepages website if you can't edit it anymore ?
To insure I didn't lose service for my business website (George And
Jacks Magic), I had to rebuild my entire website from scratch and
started using another webhost.
I still use Google Page Creator for my own personal websites and for
when I need to put up a website quickly and easily and would be
extremely disappointed if Google shut this service down. Make that
down right MAD!!!
Google, please read these posts and keep Google Page Creator going as
a complete and full service.
Google Sites is no where near as good as Google Page Creator at
creating webpages and has no adsense support or proper HTML and Java
support.
Here is my signature petitioning that Google Pages is kept running as
a complete and full service.

Hey all,
Having just recently finished building my googlepages and
still tweaking, this news is a little worrying. I chose GP orginally
for its simplicity and ease of understanding, and I have found that
that this group has been great in help and advice,as I am not too
knowledgeable about html/javascript etc. I have noticed that looking
at other sites in GPC alot of you use these elements, and having a
look at GS briefly I found that these were not available, especially
Adsense ! I am sure what the best course of action to take is but I am
happy to sign your petition too.

Why not Goole provide those "Super Functionalities" to Page Creator.
What about our site address.
Google Sites give only a sub-directory. Here we have a sub-domain. It
is necessary to have at least a sub-domain to register with analytics
and some other useful sites.
If Google finalised and firm in their decision, we are no otherway
than backing up our site.

Google disrespects, ignores and humiliates a countless number of GPC
website owners worldwide if it continues with this plan.
It will create an awful number of new enemies worldwide, probably they
even underestimate the effect on their PR...
