Today we released a new feature for Page Creator that has been near the top of everyone's wish list.
We proudly announce the ability to change or delete your home page in Page Creator. To delete your homepage, simply highlight it in the site manager and hit delete. You will receive the obligatory warning message asking you if you're sure you want to delete the page. Simply hit yes and your page will be gone.
To change your home page, click on the "Site settings" link in site manager. Under the "Homepage" option you will see a drop down menu listing all of the pages you've created. Click on the one you wish to be your homepage and it will be changed. You can click on the "Go to my homepage" link to view it if you wish. Please keep in mind that the page must be published before it can be viewed otherwise you'll receive an error message saying "Sorry...but that beautiful web page you're looking for isn't here yet. Stay tuned!"
We're excited about being able to release a new feature that was highly requested by our users and hope this is the first of more to come.

This is nice. Now we are able to make seasonal homepages :-) I'm awaiting a great feature, that is, a Trash Bin.
I once erased one of my main section page mistakenly and fell ill. I tried to recover it through search engines and stuff but couldnt. Later on i found through the Google Cache.

Very easy to use and the main purpose was to show friends and family some videos thier in America we are in Ireland and it has all worked so easily.
Big Thank You.
The only suggestion I would have is I'm not sure if I would want my webpages to be public to everyone, so is there anyway to password proctect pages or just let people view that you have invited to few the pages - a bit like the Albums websites google has created...

I agree that uploaded html and htm files shoudl be recognized as pages. I am running a couple different sites and I do most of it in written out html code. javascript redirects are being deleted automatically by gpc, although I found a way to trick it (sorta)

Well, I'd pretty much figured that out - I was trying to point out that I (and many others) WANT to make an uploaded file our home page, and it really should be considered as an option. I've put a lot of work into my pages, and my CSS, and I don't want any pages which do not match the rest of my site - the redirect is a kludge and I'd like to make it unnecessary.
You guys should be pleased that advanced users capable of writing their own HTML still want to use Google as their web host - why not help us out a little?

I fully understand the decision to not allow uploaded html files to be pages, but I do not understand the decision to only allow pages to be assigned as the home page. If we can link to uploaded html files from the pages, why can't we also assign one of those html pages as the home page? Is this a possible future feature or is this never going to be implemented?

I disagree, I do not think uploaded html files should be recognized as "Google Pages". This would mean that the google page creator would have to be completely overhauled to allow for foreign html and would negate the idea of creating a simple easy to use WYSIWYG editor that is what Google Page Creator is. That would be a daunting task and probably impossible to code and keep up to the standards that we expect from Google. I do however completely agree that we should be able to upload html files and then assign one of those as the "home page". We are already getting around this using javascript, why not allow us to do it in a non kludgy way that, for example, I can present to my boss as a reason we should go with Google Apps rather than a hosted exchange server and web server combo.

I couldn't agree more. I've spent all day trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, and why I couldn't use the website I already made. After realizing that this is not allowed I tried numerous redirect tricks, most of which are now automatically deleted by GPC. Eventually I found something, but this is far from an ideal solution. I feel like I'm spending more time trying to battle the imposed restrictions than actually developing my site.

Hello, dear Google company! That began possible to remove a homepage - really good news for all users. It would be desirable to learn - whether you plan to enter an opportunity to change URL, similarly to as they vary easily on Blogger?

Great, a very nice new feature, but it has a minor bug.
After you delete your homepage and create a new "home" page, this new one doesn't show the house icon it should have. So, anyone can casually delete its homepage without noticing it.

Did you even read the thread? Most of as are already using a redirect - that's what we're trying to get rid of. You can see where I referred to it as a "kludge."

Hi, maybe you can help me. I went and "deleted" my homepage; I wanted to see what happened. So now, I can go to my domain, and the start page still comes up. But...if I hit "sign in", I get an error that says "Service not available." Further, there doesn't seem to be a way of getting back to the "dashboard" where I can re-enable my start page. Help! Thanks!
