Setting up Sony Ericsson K750i phone in USA using T-Mobile to accept gmail

I just signed up for gmail. Love it! Found out i could set up my
mobile to access gmail. Works from slow application. Gmail has a
faster application to use with K750i Ericsson phone. I downloaded it.
It asked me if I wanted to send info to the internet and to select an
option. I chose T-mobile email but it failed to connect. I'll contact
T-mobile to see if I need to enable a service. Likely. Any other
ideas?
