Subject: Wine as an Investment (Scam)
After a cold call, I have been pestered by a certain company based in
the City of London who seem to think that (a) I'm a mug and (b) I'm
stupid enough to believe their hype.

From the background chatter, it is clearly a Boiler Room operation.

They told me that they had been in the business for 'about 100 years'
but a check at Companies House shows they were only incorporated on
15/8/2005.

I also obtained their Accounts which even contain a mistake!

After Googling the Company Name, I discovered:

http://investdrinks.org/

Which exposes this type of scam but, apparently, it is totally
unregulated and apparently unstoppable.

So is there nothing that can be done?

Maybe we could invite Quezi to investigate?

And ask Myoarin to carry a placard outside their offices?

Worried of Hove

Consider it done!

Thanks for an interesting pointer. The InvestDrinks website is
certainly an eye-opener!

Regards,
Roger

Most interesting!

And I wonder if wine investment outfits tell one anything at all about
how to sell his wine - at the time of sale.  I am sure they don't
won't have any such after-sales service.

For a wonderful sketch about cold-call selling, click on this:
http://www.myvideo.de/watch/3661087/Loriot_Vertreterbesuch_bei_Hoppen...

I expect that it will be entertaining to those who don't understand
German.

Zum wohl, cheers, cin cin, etc.

Yeah, they must have, once, at least, since I didn't find it that
peculiar.

"Loriot" - Vico von Bülow -  who introduces the sketch and plays at
least one role, wrote and directed his sketches and full-length films,
paying great attention to details such as costuming, making the people
look entirely appropriate for their roles, the wit being all in the
dialogue and action.
But yes, the hat does sit a bit silly on top of her stiff wig.
