Well, I guess it is. I got 2 emails in 2 different formats. No problem
with that. I'll figure out what I did wrong on the website.

I'm looking for John Rogers' (Melbourne) current contact info: (address,
phone number, email address---one or all)

If you have the info. and want to share it with me, then just email me at:

I've blocked about 30 free viagra & porn site spam attacks. Otherwise no activity on this list. Not much point of me talking up bamboo in FL from up here in TN. Y'all Floridians need to have some get togethers and talk up the virtues of clumping bamboo.

Phil,

Yelp, I'll be there. I'm getting to the point I wish I could get someone to
haul, set up, and take down for me and just let me show up and sell bamboo.

Wirebender,

How's everything on your side of county. You still trying to grow those
cold sensitive large tropical bamboos at your place.

BTW, have you been getting any information about or from FCCABS? I've been
retired 15 months and I don't remember getting anything during that time.

Steve,

I'll ask you the same question I asked Wirebender:

"BTW, have you been getting any information about or from FCCABS? I've been
retired 15 months and I don't remember getting anything during that time."

Yo Roy,
I'm the FCC rep to the ABS. Been going to board meets. For the past 3 yrs.
Membership and revenues are flagging. We're having trouble deciding what to
cut out to balance the budget.......or raise dues?.........put publications
on-line, on disk, etc.
Congrats on your retirement. I love it. I've found that it is greatly
UNDERRATED!
We're meeting in San Francisco next Nov.
Give us a call if you're in the area.
Sincerely,
Steve

Steve,

I was referring to FCCABS and not ABS. But while you are on the subject of
ABS, I'll take my ABS publications via email in the form of a PDF document.
That would save publication costs plus mailing costs.

I would have to say also that I have been pleased with the style of writing
in BAMBOO since the Shors took over publishing it.

It makes one wonder (or not) why membership is down over the years and the
interest in bamboo and bamboo products have soared over the same years.

Ah, Roy good to hear from you. My Asper got burned again the top half.
My Vulgaris got some burn but not as bad as the asper.
Everything Else did well. Do you really think the "Parker Giant" can
take cold better than Asper?
I need to get to see you soon and buy some more boo from you very soon.
You will to put me in touch with who can provide me with boo you do not
have enough to share! lol.
With this goverment check we are getting soon I want to get a as many
species I can get that is more cold hardy than Vulgaris or Asper.
I think this "last Buy" will be it for me as I am apraoching 50 and just
want to see what I grow in my last years of my life.

So you retired from teaching! congratulations! I hope you and the wife
are enjoying life. Your son must be a big fella by now.
Boy 20 years has gone by quick!

later you boo friend Ivan,

Ivan,

As far as the Parker being more cold hardy than some other large ones, this
is what I saw. I went to Chuck Theroux's place about 2 years ago and it was
just after a freeze of about 2 weeks earlier. Chuck said it had gotten down
to 26 F. But even if we don't know how cold it got, this is what I saw.

The large clumps of D. asper and D. brandisii (and there were others, but I
can't recall the names) looked as thought one had take a large blow torch to
them. The Parker, which was still only about 20 to 25 feet tall, and out in
the open, had only a few leaves on the top that seem to have a little damage
around the edges. Here are some of the pictures I took at that time. This
was in February and notice that there are new shoots coming up and the new
shoots were not damaged:

So what's this 50 business and nearly end of life. By 50 you are just
getting your 2nd wind. I do a lot of huffy and puffing myself.

I don't know about my wife being happy or not. She's still working. I
tried to warn her about marrying an old man (she likes use the term "older
man"). She does always seem to have long melon (Honey Dew) list for me to
do all the time.

One of my sons will be 27 in May. He's a computer programmer and he will
also be graduating with an MBA from USF in May.

I got one son still home with me. He will be 17 this month and will be a
senior in high school next year.

I'll keep an eye out in the driveway to watch to see when you come rolling
in.

Roy Rogers, your old friend
