Pastoral message from the Ministers
Jane Barnes
We know these last weeks have brought tumult to the financial markets
and anxiety into the public square in a way we have not seen for many
years. We
are reaching out to you to say that we hope you will remember we are
here for you, and that this faith community is here for you. We want
to affirm
this community as a place of love, healing and support, where you can
turn for comfort and strength.
We don't have the answers. We share your confusion and anxiety.
There is a sense in the country that our security has been shaken.
But we can lift up
our Unitarian Universalist heritage and remember the long line in
which we stand, the line of courageous women and men who have wrestled
with tough
problems before, who have stayed the course, who have helped provide
leadership and a calming presence in times of strife. They remind us
of another kind of security-one that transcends our changing world.
Above all, know that we are here for you and your families. Please
let us know how you are doing and how we might help. We can't work
magic but we
can lend a listening ear. Come in and see us in the office. Chat
with us by email. Pick up the phone. Give us your ideas about how
our community
can be a resource in these troubled times.
Have courage. Hold onto what is good. And let us know how we can help.
