if i don't hear from anyone, i suppose i'll just close it down.

Today is the first anniversary of Job Openings and Career Development
(JOCD), the other Filipino Librarian blog devoted to employment
opportunities and other career-related notices. It currently has 141
subscribers and I get a few emails every now and then that tell me
it's being read. The photo above even shows that some posts get
printed and thumb tacked to real bulletin boards. I would like to
know, however, whether anyone has ever gotten hired because s/he read
about an opening on JOCD. Alternatively, has an employer whose job
opening was listed on JOCD ever hired someone who said that s/he saw
their ad on JOCD?

salamat po sa lahat ng sumagot, lalo na yung nagsabi na nalaman nilang
may opening para sa trabaho nila ngayon dahil sa JOCD. salamat na rin
sa nagsabi na siya ay "...so amzed because I am expecting that von
totanes is already in his 40's....surprise really..you're so youna nd
yet brilliant." at bago po may makaisip na ako ay batang-bata pa,
siguro ay dapat ko na ring sabihin na 34 na po ako. bow! =)

zarah :-)
i try to post as many openings and events outside metro manila that i
can find, so if you and others like you from the provinces can share
openings with the group or email me directly, i'll make sure that the
openings are posted on JOCD.
re "solid and long enough articles," i think this is beyond the scope
of my blog. this, i believe, should be done by the associations and
the LIS schools. there is a journal of philippine librarianship that
comes out every now and then, but either there's not much research
worth publishing (and that's why we only have one such journal) or no
one has the time, patience or money to publish regular newsletters,
magazines, journals, etc. i'm actually conflating different problems,
but i hope you get what i mean =)
maybe someday...
