I'm going to make one more try because I believe in trying to eat/live local. It looks like I might be the only FOAMer available to attend this event. I would love for anyone else to join me, with or with out beer. Point to be made water is a local ingredient we all use in beer and with this short notice the organizers ok'd this. Up to $30 will be refunded/batch donated. Please reach out to me if you are interested in attending, have beer to send, or want to do both!

Subject: more info on the Hyper-Local Craft Brewfest Homebrew Showcase
To:
m...@beerbrew.comHello Everyone,
Thank you for considering participating in the Hyper Local Craft Brewfest's Homebrew Showcase night (Friday, 14 June 2013). I've had a great meeting with the main organizers and have more detailed information to share.
The Homebrew Showcase is to be a jamboree of local homebrewing clubs. The various clubs are encouraged to bring their best gear, signage, and otherwise preen in front of 450 craft beer enthusiasts. This would be an excellent chance to drum up new members and show which club is really the best. It's also a great opportunity to dust off that same gear and do a trial of a setup for the NHC's Club Night. We'll figure out some fun way for some clubs to be awarded (Most Coordinated Headpieces, Least Flatulent, ect).
The organizers are asking for homebrewers to bring beer to sample away to a curious public. They're willing to offer a stipend of up to $30 per 5 gallon batch in the form of a gift certificate to the Modern Homebrew Emporium. MHE, in turn, will do the best we can to reduce costs over that amount. In addition, all brewers will be granted access to the Brewfest via a VIP list.
Since their focus is on local, sustainable business practices, the organizers encourage the brewers to source ingredients locally. Use your judgement. I pointed out that 90% of beer is water, which is usually municipal and therefore local. If the beer is already made or ingredients could not be sourced, don't worry about it. Those who could are encouraged to talk up the local aspect.
If you'd like to see your club mentioned in the marketing materials, send me a logo and something about your club. Yes, I could take some of this from your website. Taking this active measure will also give permission to use this material.
Clubs participating:
Wort Processors - 5 brewers committed, actively seeking 6th
All-Brewer's Union - a tiny club contributing one 10 gallon batch
F.O.A.M. - 3 committed, thinks 2 more will brew
Merrimack Valley HBC - Thinks 4-6 will be no problem.
North Shore Brewers - 3 signed, 2 more soon
Modern Homebrew Emporium - 4 batches
Brew Free or Die - interested
South Shore BC - not interested in sending beer. They are being encouraged to come anyway.
Sorry for the long e-mail, but time is getting short. Let me know how I can help you. I'll need to know who is bringing beer in the not-too-distant future.
Cheers,
-- Randy Baril
