I accidentally posted the problem in the "Advanced Help" discussion
folder (oops, my mistake).  Here is the link to the actual post about
FF hanging when the google toolbar is enabled.

Hi gary201,

Please confirm that your Linux set up meets the Toolbar's system
requirements. You can check them out at:

Also, some users have reported that builds of Firefox pre-packaged
with Linux OSes don't play nice with the Toolbar (Ubuntu's Firefox, in
particular). In any case, it's best to download the official Mozilla
build from the Firefox homepage at http://www.getfirefox.com/

Gary201, I have found Swiftweasel an excellent alternative to
Ubuntuised Firefox - you might want to try it on your Gutsy setup and
see if it works as well for you as it does for me. You can get the
