to Election Integrity
It amazes me that advocates for an election system that has no federal
standards and uses easily corruptible software driven hardware in
every state in the U.S. with corporations hired to count the votes in
every state are even considering adding more complications and
problems.
We can't even count votes accurately in elections today with the level
of complicated and corrupted systems we are currently using and you
propose IRV or trying to establish multiple candidates for each race
as runoff elections seems crazy and would disenfranchise the voter
from their vote and the election process even more.
The idea that there is no consensus of opinions or common goals keeps
corrupt elections possible. Without a single minded focus to establish
simple transparent and open people centered election systems, even if
the people centered system is the second system to electronic systems,
would be a constructive start. Sometimes you have to back away from
arguments about problems, to see the arguments themselves are causing
more problems and preventing any real progress.
When there are too many choices or ideas nobody can choose. The public
is apathetic and cynical for good reason when egos and career
arguments for working with flawed existing electronic systems replace
common sense and hands on solutions.
